The Inaugural 2025 IMA Scholarship Program for Sierra Leonean Medical Students was a Great Success!
In May 2025, fifteen university and students and university aspirants joined IMA for a Volunteer Week at our Gbamandu Clinic. The students were selected via a rigorous and objective application process. The volunteer week was the final phase of the application process, and provided opportunities for hands-on learning, performance evaluation, career and educational track advising, and networking. The students had opportunities to assist in labor and delivery, neonatal health assessments, antenatal care, pediatric medical treatment, malnutrition assessments and treatment, infectious and tropical disease diagnosis and treatment, emergency cases, and adult primary care appointments. In the end, seven currently enrolled university students were selected and received IMA scholarships, which will pay most of all of their tuition costs for 2025. Our selectees are all children of Soa Chiefdom, who are enrolled in physician, nursing, and public health programs in Freetown, Bo, Bonthe, Makeni, and Koidu. It was a wonderful week for everyone!
